This weekend, something horrible happened amidst the excitement of my beautiful daughter’s 6th birthday and the great visit with my family, who flew up here to celebrate Julie’s special day. My midwife, Lisa, who assisted with April’s homebirth, died tragically from a heart attack at only 52 years old.

Lisa was an incredible and very dear woman. Mother of three, wife, powerful leader of the homebirthing community, and friend to so many. Her death was sudden, shocking, and almost incomprehensible. I cannot believe she is gone. She was so full of energy, humor, and life. My heart breaks for her family and close loved ones.
Sometimes, words fail me.
